Fall Around the Home Tour

There’s just something about having a cozy home as the weather turns crisp and you find yourself grabbing a sweater in the morning. I love bringing in the warmth of textures into home design in general but I find these different textures pop up more around this time of year. And little white pumpkins. I’m pretty sure we keep the local farmers afloat with pumpkin purchases. Welcome to fall around our home and make sure you navigate down to see all my friend’s fall homes.

Our family room is a bit in transition right now as we wait for new couches to arrive. You know how that goes. You order them and then 13 years later you get a call that they are ready. I think we’re in year 2. Haha! Regardless as to the transitory nature of our space, I wasn’t going to let this room get the cold shoulder while in limbo. So I made that corn husk wreath and hung it with a beautiful textured velvet ribbon. I added glazed ceramic pumpkins to the mantel and a new piece of artwork by Pamela Munger. I love the soft fall-ish colors in it.

I adore this metal bowl from McGee & Co. I splurged for it during a recent sale and I’m so glad I did. It adds a warm texture to the coffee table and when filled to the brim with little white pumpkins it looks charming.

The crown jewel of the window nook is that large branch of fresh leaves. I might have looked like a crazy person cutting that down on the side of the road but I’m in love with the colors and glad I stopped. Foraging can bring in that perfect dose of fall. When in doubt, take cutting shears with you on a walk. I just adore the softness of the Serena & Lily pillows in the nook. Neutral doesn’t have to be boring when you add texture. Embroidery and tassels are the perfect addition.

The kitchen nook is simply outfitted with some beautiful yet inexpensive greenery from the grocery store and a little white pumpkin. I thought about wreaths but settled for just the tiniest wisp of fall in here.

Now what is fall without some more pumpkins, both of the baby girl and heirloom variety. I can barely believe that little pumpkin of mine is already 8 months old. Now inside or out, pumpkins are a must in a fall home. We live in an area of the country where we have these great unique heirloom varieties. I love the green/blue ones best of all.

In the playroom I took down the beach pictures we’ve had along the bookshelf wall for the last several years and added a simple phrase from the Winnie the Pooh movie, “Once Upon the Last Day of a Golden Summer”. It goes on to say something like “there was a boy and a bear. And they had many adventures in the 100 acre woods.” Oh my heart. I’m not sure if it’s the old British voice narrating or the understanding that these innocent moments of childhood are so fleeting like a golden summer, but if there was ever a feeling I want to convey to those little boys (and girl) it’s one of wildly celebrating wonder and innocence. I wanted to celebrate that magical feeling hoping it would permeate into every carefree game that happens in this sweet room. Just one of many changes coming to this room soon (don’t tell my hubby I’m already scheming).

So between bowls of pumpkins and sweet little babies in fall dresses, I hope you’ve enjoyed some glimpses of fall around our home. And it was captured so beautifully by my sweet friend Ruthie of Ruth Eileen Photography. She’s got the eye for capturing lovely in interiors so make sure you reach out to her! Now hop on over to my friends.
