Hints of Spring Around Our Home

It’s coming! Even to New England where things are historically slow to develop. I can see crocus blooming and tulips peeking out of the soil, wanting so badly to give us an early spring–as if apologizing for all the awful winters of the past. Welcome to hints of spring around our home and thank you for joining me from Beth’s blog, 1111 Light Lane. We’ve had an easy winter, dare I say it out loud, and although spring is on the horizon and with that, an explosion of color, I kept it light and neutral with splashes of color here and there.

THE FAMILY ROOM

We’ve had a couple changes to our family room, a new gallery wall you can see on this post and some new vertical shiplap above the mantel. I said goodbye to the grasscloth for a fresher, brighter option. I love the fresh original art by Pamela Munger, she’s one of my favorite artists. Here’s a similar one in the same size as the one on our mantel. Never underestimate the power of baskets to hold everything from TV changers, fireplace controls to Aubrey’s toys. I’ll always marvel at their ability to add warmth to a space.

Squishy pillows and warm blankets are still a must for this early spring home. The fireplace will be on for the next several months still although I’m sure ready to frolic outside without a coat.

But I can pretend it’s consistently warm and flowery with softer blush tones sprinkled in. We’ve added it in pillow form on the couches.

I love this Lisa Fine block print floral pillow in coral. It added one of my favorite colors to the room and is a gentle nod to spring.

THE KITCHEN

In the kitchen I picked up some Pussy Willow to put in a vintage French enamel pot (similar one here). I love the spring feel and height it adds to the sink nook. Fresh flowers on a vintage bread board make the perfect grouping for a simple touch on the island.

The spring table in our nook continued the soft blush colors. You can see more closeups of probably my favorite table to date on this spring table post.

In our window nook I added this sweet Fingerling Lime. I love the leaves on it and am hopeful we can get it to fruit even though New England is cold. I love growing citrus indoors.

So thank you friends for taking a peek at some hints of spring around our home with photography by Ruth Eileen Photography. Head to my friend Tracy’s blog, Plaids and Poppies, to get some spring ideas to incorporate into your design. Her sneak peek above looks so cheerful.
