Of all the seasons, spring speaks to my heart most. And in New England, she really puts on a show once the snow melts. We plant hundreds of tulips and daffodils and linger when we’re finally able to be outside in the bursting freshness without winter coats. Inside, I love softer colors, pinks, blues and fresh flowers. So welcome to Woodlawn Avenue, I’m honored to join this “Breath of Fresh Air Spring Home Tour” and welcome you from sweet Rachel at The Cultivated Life Blog.
In the family room just some soft flowers on the mantel and some new artwork make a pretty transition from winter garlands and Christmas busy. And the bookcases, I love simple and I love symmetry, I think it gives your eyes a place to rest and makes it feel united in design. Don’t underestimate the value of adding different textures to your spaces–baskets, wood, metals, ceramics. They all have a place and add so much lovely.
After the holidays I worked hard on our new gallery wall over the couch. We had one originally with pretty brass frames, they were smaller in size and 12 total but had taken them down once the remodel finished up. It always bothered me that the frames weren’t all the same, some slightly larger than others since they were handmade brass frames. They were beautiful but in a grouping, the size discrepancies were noticeable. But I was missing our travel pictures. This time I went with frames that were a little sleeker and larger in size. We went with 16x20s, 6 total in slim black metal frames. I love the freshness it adds. And we even got to add a travel picture from our recent trip to Portugal.
I love watching how the seasons change the light in our home. This window nook is an all time favorite and it adds so much freshness to the room. A bright pink vase brings out the pink in the pillows which I kept out from the holidays. They’re just so pretty.
My desk area got some spring flowers and organized a bit and that automatically makes it feel fresher.
The kitchen really just takes flowers. I added new topiaries to the windows and the green is fresh and very spring-y. If you want to see more peeks of the kitchen, I just finished the full reveal post with all the fun details.
