Dried flowers are having such a resurgence in recent years partially because they’re no longer your grandmother’s faded, dust-covered fire kindling in some forgotten corner. Last summer I got some beautiful strawflowers from The Dalia Shed and loved how they dried out. Why not attach them to a pretty heart-shaped frame and enjoy a beautiful Valentine’s Day-inspired wreath?
I got a bunch of 50 dried strawflower heads off Etsy. These came in various shades but I didn’t have enough to do a whole wreath in all one color. This is more colorful than my norm but I’m actually loving the varying shades. Keep in mind if you are wanting a single color of strawflower, give yourself more time to order, Many of the strawflowers I’ve found come from shops on Etsy that are located in Latvia.
The finished product looks beautiful hanging on our rickety vintage barn door.
Start by heating up your hot glue gun. I used a 12″ metal heart wreath frame and picked my favorite strawflowers. Dab some hot glue and nestle the strawflowers against each other until you’re all the way around. It’s a beautiful and easy way to bring a little Valentine’s day into the home.
This would make a beautiful girl’s day activity. Some pretty flowers, good wine and a lot of laughs are the makings of Valentine’s Day memories. I’d love to see your strawflower wreaths so tag me when you make one! These beautiful pictures were captured by the lovely and talented Ruth Eileen Photography.
