It’s Easter time! And I loooove this season. Probably because it’s warming up in New England and everything is bursting to life. This sweet wooden egg wreath is a great addition to the florals, pastels and springy colors, providing a nice neutral backdrop for a gorgeous, colored silk ribbon. Perfectly subtle and easy to make, it’s a lovely way to welcome Easter.
SUPPLIES:
12″ Wire wreath
Tissue Paper, preferably a light brown like the egg (I had wished I had this color but I used what I had on hand)
40 Large Wooden Eggs, Size: 2 3/8 x 1 1/2″
24 Small Wooden Eggs, Size 1 1/2″
Hot Glue Gun and Extra Glue Sticks
Start by weaving tissue paper in and out of the wire wreath frame to create more surface for you to glue the eggs to. I hot glued the tissue paper to the frame every so often so that I knew the tissue would stay in place. These are solid wood eggs and they get heavy.
I wanted the wreath to have an informal, organic look to it and found that placing the eggs next to each other at varying angles gave you a much better look. Start first with the larger eggs and then you’ll fill in the spots with the smaller eggs. Or if you truly want that “organic” look, enlist the help of a 5 year old, haha.
Just keep gluing eggs until you’ve used up all your large eggs and it looks filled out nicely. I used 30 large eggs in the picture below but wished I had a few more to fill the edges. I’d recommend getting another pack of 10 so you don’t see any of the wire wreath frame. Once you’ve got the big eggs in place, fill in sporadically with the small eggs.
Pull out those lovely ribbons and voila, a pretty way to use some of those darling wood Easter eggs. A sweet craft and an easy way to bring some Easter into just about any decor style.
