It’s the holiday season and we’re getting our pretty plates out over here. Today I’m sharing 5 helpful tips for planning a lovely holiday table with Winston Flowers.
I love mixing old vintage finds and new treasures on my holiday tables. Here I pulled out my old wooden brass cutlery to set the table. They add a patina to the finished table that’s just so good. Try using some vintage plates or napkins or grandma’s silverware as you plan your table.
FORGO PLACE CARDS AND OPT FOR SWEET NOTE
Skip the guest placement planning and create sweet notes to tuck into each setting, allowing guests to pick where they sit. I used PicMonkey to create a note that says “Merry Merry,” cut it out and used my fingers to lightly curl the ends to look like a banner. Tuck it under a ribbon and pinecone grouping for a sweet addition to each setting.
I love using woven placemats for a texture add to the tablescape. This warms up the table and makes it feel homey, a place your guests want to linger. Someplace special but not stuffy. So be it a placemat or woven flatware, like these ones, or tucking in sweet sisal trees, texture adds interest and an informality that I just love.
I like to add varying heights down the center of my tables, often with different heights of floral arrangements or candles but here I also used differing heights of Christmas sisal trees. They add a touch of whimsy and visual interest to the table. I like to style the largest arrangement in the middle and smaller ones on either side. Here the differing heights of Winston’s Evergreen and Ivory Arrangement with the smaller Snow Belle arrangements on either side grounds the table and creates lovely interest. I used neutral colored sisal or bottlebrush trees that I have collected over the years, like these ones. But how pretty would this pastel pink set look on a holiday table with Winston’s brighter red-hued arrangements like the Velvet Lux arrangement, for example.
No outfit is complete without some beautiful jewelry and holiday tables are very much the same, in my humble opinion. Flowers are the finishing touch, the cherry on top, the jewelry. They can add color, texture and interest to an otherwise ordinary table. Winston Flowers has been making beautiful arrangements since the 1940s and is a third-generation, family run company. They were one of the first flower companies to begin importing flowers from overseas and with their attention to detail and quality, adding a Winston Flowers arrangement to your holiday table is truly like adding the perfect jewelry.
