Can you even believe it’s the close of the year!? And what a year it has been. I thought I’d highlight some of my favorites, from products to posts and everything in between. From the highest highs (welcoming sweet baby Aubrey) to the lowest of lows (saying goodbye to my mom), it’s certainly been a year filled with many memories, as well as, many beautiful posts here on Finding Lovely. And it got all that much prettier around this joint with the beautiful rebranding and website design by Ashley & Malone. They are so dear to me because they took a pretty rough blog and turned it into something lovely. Both with kindness and a level of professionalism they were a dream to work with. From posts to products to memories, it’s been a lovely year indeed.
As I look back over it all, my favorite recipe was probably that delicious maple cinnamon pie or the Strawberry Lemon Crumble Muffins. Both were sooooo good and beautifully captured by Ruth Eileen Photography. My favorite home post was probably sweet Aubrey’s Nursery Reveal. She was such a gift this year and has been a buoy to my heart as I miss my mom. The only trip we went on (besides many trips home to California) was to Seabrook, Wa and that was a dear memory for me. It’s certainly been a year of blessings, even in the hard, and I can’t help but be in awe of it all. I know there is lovely here in the hard things, the transformative things.
As I think back on my favorite home purchases this year, many were from Serena & Lily. They opened a design shop in Chestnut Hill, Ma just outside of Boston and it has been a joy to visit and be inspired. From original art and photography to beautiful home furnishings like our kitchen counter stools, it’s not only a pretty store to visit but the products are even more fun to bring home. Serena & Lily is known for their casual, coastal style, high end finishes that are thoughtfully designed and a delight to style. From pillows and throws to gorgeous consoles, it’s hard to pick a favorite. I love the Cabot console we have in our family room, so much so that I used it as the dessert table in Kai’s vintage race car party. I’ll be showing you all more of this sweet party in about a week. Until then here is a sneak peek. Isn’t that console pretty?! The raffia-wrapped shelves added a beautiful textural element that I just couldn’t cover up with a tablecloth for that sweet shindig.

While I was pregnant with Aubrey I tried hard to remove chemicals from my daily routine. We switched to just simple vinegar and water to clean our counters and floors and I swapped out my skincare and makeup routine for “clean” products. Surprisingly, it wasn’t a sacrifice at all and it turned out to be the find of a lifetime when I stumbled on the Coola sunscreen products. Every morning, right after I get out of bed, I wash my face and put on Mineral Fusion’s Intense Hydration Face Cream. I then lather on the Coola Mineral Sun Silk Creme. While my face is moist from these two products I put a tiny, pea-sized amount of the Coola Mineral Matte Tint with a small squirt of my foundation, Dr Hauschka no 2 and blend it onto my cheek and into my hairline and neck. I repeat this combo on my other cheek and forehead, blending it thoroughly with my fingers, It’s just enough coverage to look polished and I love the doubled up SPF protection. Couldn’t recommend these products anymore.
My favorite craft was probably the sweet floral macrame wall hanging I ended up putting in Aubrey’s Nursery. It would be an adorable backdrop to a little one’s party or little girl’s room. You can find all the instructions on that blog post.
I’m not sure how to even define this anymore because they’re all so gosh darn cute, especially with the jaw-dropping cookies from Honey Lou Baking Co. Ruthie from Ruth Eileen Photography captures them all so beautifully too. Cade’s Airplane Party sticks out in my mind because it was sooo cute, you’ll have to pop over and take another look. My hubby made the paper airplane garland and the dessert table came together beautifully.
I hope you’ve enjoyed a look back at some of my favorites of 2019. And here’s to 2020. May you be able to see lovely in the hard things you walk through and name the blessings in your seasons of joy. And above all, may you remember that you are worthy, loved and have a unique purpose. Cheers to a new year!
