We celebrated Aubrey’s 2nd birthday about a month ago with a cute bunny birthday party. She loves all things bunny-related. After she was born, my mom found an adorable Bunnies By the Bay buddy blanket that she has slept with every single night. She calls it “hoppie.” So naturally my sweet two year old got a “hoppie” party. Beautiful florals, the cutest of DIY scalloped tables and bunnies galore, it was a two year old’s dream. Gosh remember when she was one and we threw her a floral strawberry party!? Time is swiftly moving by but the floral force is strong with this one.
I wanted the colors to be delicate, muted and soft, inspired by vintage florals and Maileg bunnies. Her birthday is the dead of winter in New England so it naturally had to be inside but that didn’t stop us from making it festive. Some bunting and florals and a lace canopy made it feel like a party.
SCALLOPED TABLES
I got Aubrey these adorable rattan bunny chairs for Christmas and had a vision of how I wanted the tables to look. I drew them out and in typical handy hubby fashion, he created them from lumber. We used a drinking glass to draw the scallop design on wood and then he cut it out with a jigsaw. I softened the rounded edge with an electric sander and painted the tables white, leftover BM White Dove from our bedroom. Try it yourself and if you don’t want to make a table from scratch, try a premade kids table and add the scallop.
FLORALS
These dusty, blush, rose shades will have my heart forever. And this will probably stand as my favorite arrangement I’ve made. A big thank you to the Floral Reserve for filling my bucket with the most beautiful blooms I’ve ever seen.
A TABLE SET FOR TWO
Aubrey’s little bestie was able to come and they sat under a canopy of lace and had brunch and tea. It was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Matt and I made the canopy out of about 8 yards of lace, two 1 x 1″ scrap wood pieces cut to about 18″ long and thin gauge metal wire we hung from a center point on the ceiling. The wooden pieces are held out from the center by fishing line that was tied to either window. If you look closely you can see the fishing line holding the wood out to make the canopy shape. Yes we did put holes in the ceiling as we drilled a small wood piece inside of the canopy to make sure it was really secure. Also we put wax paper in the window because the morning light is quite bright in our house. This filters the light so you can take pictures and guests aren’t blinded.
DESSERT TABLE
Dessert tables are such a sweet addition to parties. I love gathering little sweets together for the kiddos to enjoy. Bethany from FlourdbyBethany made the cookies for this shindig and did such a lovely job. They were delicious too! For the cake I made carrot cake and frosted it with a lemon frosting. The donut holes looked like fluffy rabbit tales and the pastel macarons are a party must. Sweet treats for a sweet little girl.
I hot glued the 4″ wooden bunny shapes to the green ribbon to make the garland. It was a festive and sweet touch. The vase on the mantel is a vintage find and the sign says “Hoppie birthday Aubrey” in honor of her hoppies.
The favors were brown paper sacks filled with treats. I cut the top to look like ears and glued remnant fabric for the ears–perfect for a bunny birthday party. “Hoppie” birthday Aubrey! We love you so. It was a beautiful day with our sweet friends and I hope you feel loved and cherished.
