It’s the seasoning of gathering. Warm and cozy and with some delicious food. We’ve been sitting together here every night, the perk of having an eat-in kitchen table. We even devised a sneaky method to keep Aubrey in her seat. Each of the kiddos has a candlestick in a vintage brass holder. We light them when we start dinner and if they get up from their seats they get their candle blown out. When the meal is over and they are excused, they get to blow their candle out and when the candle burns all the way down, they’ll get their choice of an “after meal treat.” It’s helping keep a wiggly two year old happily in her seat as we eat together as a family and enjoy a warm fall table.
But that makes this spot extra fun to set because we’re all using it nightly instead of just for arts and crafts. So whether you are having guests over, setting a holiday table or making an ordinary weeknight something special, here’s a lovely fall table setting to inspire you.
I’ve used these woven placemats for years at this point. I love the texture and loveliness they add to a table. Placed on top of a pretty tablecloth, it is a great way to add immediate warmth to a setting. Layer vintage plates, tie a loose knot in your napkin and add these adorable fall flag printables to each place setting. Cut them out in strips and snip the edges to resemble a flag. I then slid them between my fingers to lightly curl the edges.
There’s something special about using vintage pieces while setting a table. I found this vintage flatware set at the Brimfield Antique Show but found a similar set here if you’re looking for them. I love the warmth of the wooden handles.
I used a basket from Target as the vase for this fall floral arrangement. Tuck a bowl into the basket that you can fill with water. It makes a lovely, warm accent for the fall table and matches the color of the flatware.
I love the warmer tones of fall and hope you’ve enjoyed this lovely fall table captured beautifully by the talented Ruth Eileen Photography. I hope it inspires your holiday preparations as we look forward to gathering with those we love.
