It’s that glorious time of year in New England where all the hydrangea bushes are bursting with summer blooms. Grab a lovely tablecloth, delicious food and some dear ones to celebrate the long evenings and summer bounty. You’ll never regret hydrangea season entertaining.
I’ve been waiting for a couple weeks for my french plates to come and they’re finally here! These hand-painted porcelain beauties are from the charming hillside town of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. I love them paired with the scallop blue-edged napkin and woven placemat. I also adore this rattan flatware set.
Etsy is my go-to site for tablecloths but this one is sold out now. Here is a similar one that I love. The blue stripe ceramic cups are by Miranda Thomas Pottery and handmade treasures. I found them at her studio outside Woodstock, Vt a couple years ago and they are a much loved piece in our home. The perfect size for juice or steaming some oat milk, I use them every single day. I’m hoping to pick a few more up this coming fall when we head to Vermont for our annual leaf peeping trip.
We have some large limelight hydrangea bushes in our front yard that I make bundles of bouquets out of each year. I added in some blue lace cap hydrangeas and a couple of my blushing bride which are a faint blue this year. Last year they were cotton candy colors of light blush, lilac and blue. With so many varieties of hydrangeas out there, the arrangement ideas are endless.
I really love using these glass (technically candle holders) vases from Target. I have a good half dozen now and pick them up whenever I find them on sale. At a little over $10, they make the perfect vase for events–not too big, not too small and the stems are easier to arrange with slightly higher edges. Snag them while you can.
It’s that lovely time of hydrangea season entertaining and I love how they pair so well with blues. Always a favorite color combination, they’re a welcome addition to any table. Try serving this delicious summertime peach sangria. I hope you’ve enjoyed this outdoor entertaining post and get some quality outside time with dear ones this summer.
