Hello there friends. The kiddos are on spring break this week and we’re laying low. We did see the new Super Mario Brothers movie last night at the fancy theater with reclining seats. Unlike last year, when we were all recovering from an epic trip to Peru, this week is relaxing. And my tulips are blooming!! Today I’m sharing some favorite “greener” options we use around the home and LOVE, our Earth Day Favorites.

There are so many good options out there and although we could certainly do better, these little changes we’ve made have significantly cut down on our ecological footprint. And it’s not even a sacrifice anymore with how good the plastic-free options are. So here are a few of our favorites:

CHANGES AROUND OUR HOME

Some changes took time to get use to, like cooking 95% of our meals with cast-iron USA made pans recommended by the Lead Safe Mama, which I’ve come to love. Other’s we’ve found by painful trial and error. Like trash bags, which were perhaps the most difficult to replace. There is nothing fun about taking the bag out of the trashcan only for it to break all over your kitchen floor. This one from Amazon is our favorite.

We have this Rev-a-Shelf set up in a cabinet next to our sink with weird-shaped triangle bins. We were initially skeptical of the set up, which our custom cabinet maker chose for us, but have grown to love it as it makes sorting easier. All plastic bags we receive, like Amazon air filled bags go in the fabric bag in the back which, when full, I take to the store to recycle. One bin is compost, one bin is recycling, and the other bin is trash. Easy Peasy.

Another absolute love is the biodegradable bamboo charcoal floss. It work great and for those of you who are also slightly disturbed by rubbing plastic between your teeth and then swallowing, this one is our absolute favorite.
