Easter tables are fun to plan and coming off of winter, are almost refreshing–the flowers, the food, and ultimately the sweet friends and family that gather around them. But it can also get expensive. It seems like there are always new cute products that catch your eye. I’m guilty of always wanting to switch things up but we all have budgets we need to keep. I loved these napkins from Potterybarn but at $7 a napkin, I knew it would get a bit pricey. So why not find a way to make your own for a whole lot less?
I started with buying clearance fabric from JoAnn’s and using a coupon. If you time this right and find a coupon you can save a bundle. It was $4.50 per yard. I bought a yard and a quarter of this aqua fabric which is enough for four 20″ square napkins. We hemmed them and then they we’re ready to go.
I freehand sketched the bunny onto card stock and cut it out. You can also use a bunny shaped cookie cutter or print a bunny picture off the internet.
I traced the bunny shape softly using a pencil and then used a paint brush to apply the paint. Let it dry and then add your 0.5″ white pom pom for the tail. Once again, if you want these forever, I’d stitch the pom pom on so it stays put. Otherwise, I used hot glue.
If you’re planning on keeping these for awhile and reusing them after washing, fabric paint is an absolute must. It dries soft once you paint it on and is permanent. If you don’t plan on reusing, regular old acrylic paint works just fine.
These beautiful pictures were taken from my good friend Ruthie of Ruth Eileen Photography. She’s an amazing New England photographer, from Home Tours to Weddings and every sweet event in between, she’s your gal.
