How cute are these rice krispie treats for the 4th of July. And seriously they could not be easier. This was my grandma’s recipe. I grew up eating them but to make them extra special and darling, we added a popcicle stick and dipped the bottom in chocolate. Add a festive ribbon and voila. The perfect 4th of July treat.
Just like rice krispie treats with marshmallows, this one is literally 4 ingredients and a super easy stovetop recipe.
INGREDIENTS
6 cups brown rice cereal (I used the 365 brand from WholeFoods)
1 C granulated sugar
1 C organic corn syrup (I used the Wholesome brand)
1 C creamy peanut butter
INSTRUCTIONS
Measure out 6 cups of rice krispies in a large bowl. Place parchment paper in a 9×11″ baking dish.
Heat sugar and corn syrup in a saucepan until starting to bubble. Add peanut butter and continue to cook over the stove for 10 minutes until well mixed and bubbling.
Pour over rice krispies and mix thoroughly.
Pour mixture into prepared baking dish and place in refrigerator to cool.
Once chilled, about 1 hour, pull out of baking dish and place on cutting board. Cut into rectangles and push in the popsicle sticks. Dip bottom in melted chocolate and sprinkles. Add ribbon detail to stick and voila. Easy and darling.
I love that these a portable and sweet little treats. My goodness add a popsicle stick and kiddos go crazy for them. Clearly this is not a recipe for peanut allergies but thankfully my kiddos do not have them so we get to enjoy the yummy peanut butter rice krispie treats passed down from my grandma.
