Spring Book List for Kids

If you’re in New England than you know that we’re still kind of waiting for spring and we sure hope it gets here before summer. Every season we like to add some books to our shelves that help us understand the season and or holiday, these are some favorites geared towards the preschool ages. Happy late spring reading!

My little boys are big time book lovers which we’ve always promoted. If you’ve stopped by before you know we make it a big deal to go to the library or the bookstore in town and then change up the books displayed on their reading shelves for the season or holidays.

And Then It’s Spring by Julie Fogliano

Such a sweet book about a little boy planting some seeds and the patience that comes with waiting. There are many talking points in this book and the pictures are enchanting.

Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert

This is a perennial favorite for my littles. Any time you get to turn unusual pages it’s a win. This book is colorful as much as it is clever and they are always picking this one up. A perfect size for little hands.

Fletcher and the Springtime Blossoms by Julia Rawlinson

Ahhh Fletcher. He is a favorite in our home and this one is beautiful.

The Gardener by Sarah Stewart

This one was a new one for us this spring. I think it may resonate more next year when they are a bit older but the point my boys took away was that it is always a good thing to make the world more beautiful.

A Perfect Day for Digging by Cari Best

This book is all about mud and dirt and the fun that can ensue when you dig around a bit. Having two boys and a childhood filled with mud kitchen fun, I was all too excited to get them reading about dirt.
