It could be we’re still reminiscing about our recent travels through the French countryside (and trying to edit through 2500+ pictures) but an alfresco dinner date for two just seemed perfect. Never mind the shenanigans happening over there on the playset and occasional stray ball flying out of nowhere. The summer of no childcare continues. Rosé and some good cheese make all kid noise practically unhearable. Some pretty flowers and a simple place setting make this bistro table set for two just perfect.

FERMOB BISTRO SET

Last year we added this pretty Fermob bistro set on the way into my cottage garden. They come in many different sizes and colors, mine is from the Lorette collection in clay grey. Dining next to a row of hydrangeas is always a win and I’ve loved having my tea out here in the morning. Plus it folds up flat for easy storage at the end of the season.

I used a pretty block print tablecloth, my favorite woven chargers and some vintage plates while I eagerly wait for those French ones in transit. I added a simple knotted napkin and rattan flatware. Grab those dates where you can. Life is busy and the curveballs come out of nowhere.

Now I’m pretty sure things just taste better in France but I loved our outdoor dinners infused with wafts of lavender and some really good cheese and bread. Luckily Wellesley has a wonderful cheese shop, Wasiks, that has been serving delicious cheeses since 1964. Can you guess where I’ll be for the next year!?
