I have to confess it’s not the most fun to make

I have to confess it’s not the most fun to make a garland from scratch but for the price of floral wire and our Christmas tree permit, it’s a budget-friendly option. I used leftover bits of our Christmas tree and some foraged finds from a walk, several hours later, some grapevines, pinecones and ribbon later you’ve got something lovely to grace the door. I reused the Halloween ribbon wreath too and turned it into a holiday one. I’d say I was a fan but the foraged fresh rose hips were so thorny it was a pretty painful wreath to make.

Our wild tree! How I love this time of year when our window comes alive with twinkling lights day and night. I’ve staked claim over this tree. This is momma’s tree but the kiddos helped put some ornaments on that I *may* have redistributed when they weren’t looking. They each have a tiny tree in their bedrooms and a fun one, with homemade ornaments, in the playroom. But momma’s tree is filled with vintage ornaments I’ve collected through the years, pretty velvet ribbons and is sitting in a bucket I found at Brimfield. A wild, collected tree in all her loveliness.

Christmas magic indeed! Never be afraid to make traditions your own. Don’t like the message of something but love the fun? Navi our kindness elf arrived in style except with a snafu with the string. Our cute spin on The Elf on the Shelf, our kindness elf arrives to help our kids get their hearts ready for Christmas, no strings attached. She is silly and cute but isn’t watching our kids for bad behavior to report back to Santa because your worth (and presents) are not dictated by your behavior. What is a gift but something freely given? Sometimes she has fun activities for the kids to do, sometimes she winds up in a silly situation, no matter what the day, she brings a whole lot of joy to our home. We brought her home from Norway when Cade was 6 months old never imaging the role she’d play in our Christmas magic! Happy first day of advent!
