Easter means spring! And eggs and all things charming! Grab a grapevine wreath, some cute wooden and embroidered eggs, lovely ribbon and let’s create something adorable to hang above your Easter tablescape this season.
Everything I used for this Easter Egg Wreath Hanging was something I already had on hand but I do this for a living so chances are you’ll need some supplies, listed below. The painted speckle wood eggs were a project I did a few years ago with wooden eggs from Amazon and some acrylic paint. The handmade embroidered eggs are an heirloom treasure I splurged on last year during a sale from Parterre. At first I thought I’d use some willow branches I brought back from my dad’s house in Napa over Thanksgiving but it ended up looking too thin for a wreath hanging under my pendant light so I grabbed a grapevine wreath from the attic that had more depth to it.
12-18″ Grapevine Wreath (I like this one from Etsy or this one as a budget option)
Twine
Scissors
Wooden Eggs in three sizes (2.5 inch wooden eggs, 1 1/8 inch wooden eggs, 7/8 inch wooden eggs)
Embroidered Eggs (these are the actual ones I used and here is a charming budget option)
1/8″ Velvet Ribbon (I like this dusty rose color and pretty blue)
Hot Glue Gun + Glue Sticks
Acrylic Paint (if you’re wanting to make the speckled painted eggs version)
Every light above a table is different so depending on how you want yours to hang really determines how you put it up. I used about 4 long pieces of twine tied around my wreath and then hung them from the inside part of the light fixture. It took some trial and error to get it to not look lopsided but once it was up, I added the eggs.
It doesn’t take many eggs to make this look adorable. I used a small dab of hot glue to hold the ribbon on each one, even the embroidered ones. I made the loop part of the ribbon separately than the hanging piece by taking a 3-4″ length of ribbon, putting a dab of hot glue in the middle of it and folding the ends in onto the glue in the middle. This makes two loops. Add another dab of glue to attach it to the top of the egg where the hanging ribbon is.
A couple of tips for the aesthetic of it:
1) Use different sized eggs. I used three sizes listed and linked in the supplies section above.
2) Hang them from different heights. Cut your ribbon different lengths and glue the ribbon onto the inside and outsides of the wreath. A little dab of hot glue keeps the ribbon from sliding out of the grapevine wreath.
3) I changed up the orientation of the eggs, ie pointy side up and down for added variety.
4) Use different colors of ribbon. I know someone is going to ask but I have no idea where the bunny ribbon came from. My guess is Hobby Lobby or Michaels.
A cute Easter Egg Wreath Hanging above, some cute table settings below. I love these chambray plates from Potterybarn. They’re perfect for Easter! These pretty blue/grey candles go well. I folded my napkins diagonally, rolled them up and then used a pretty napkin ring to create a bunny ear look. Tuck a wooden egg in for extra cuteness.
