I feel like Halloween is what you make it. You can choose to focus on all the wrong about it or embrace the fun of childhood and the magic of the falling leaves. Admittedly many are not related to Halloween in the slightest, they simply reflect the sights, colors and feels of the season. Grab them from the library, borrow them from friends or stock up on a few for your own seasonal collection. If I had to pick a personal favorite, I’d say Stumpkin is it. Every year my kids specifically pick out a “stumpkin” from the pumpkin patch. Followed closely by Fletcher and the Falling Leaves although not really Halloween-y, its illustrations are so beautiful I can’t help but keep this one on the shelves for months on end. Pick a Pumpkin is also beautifully illustrated and new for us this year.
