Halloween on the Porch

Boo! It’s almost October and that means getting out some tasteful but still spooky fun for Halloween on the porch. Last year we hung electric candles by fishing wire and it was a big hit for the kiddos, especially the Harry Potter fans in our neighborhood. So we did it again. After all, who knows if Halloween Trick or Treating is actually happening this year. We’re still decorating our home and getting costumes ready even if it is just for a small gathering of friends or a hide and seek game with just us. We’re keeping the rhythm of normal going strong for the kiddos and our own sanity. You can find some fun Halloween decorating ideas at the end of this post as I join my friends on this Halloween-inspired blog hop.

We’re not big on scary or all those blow up toys all over the lawn, although I won’t be surprised if someday I come home and find my hubby blowing one up. The kids think they are so fun and they explore the Halloween aisle at Home Depot with him around this time every year, haha.

I put out a lovely trick or treat pillow from Bridgeway Designs. I love the font on this pillow and it is so well made. Definitely a lovely addition to the porch.

BLACK IVY WREATH

This is a simple DIY. With some black gloss spray paint, some faux or fresh ivy and a grapevine wreath, you can create a pretty adorable and spooky wreath for your door. I used fresh ivy from our backyard, spray painted it black and then tucked it in to the wreath, no hot glue required if you stick them in well. Hang the wreath with some black satin ribbon and it looks beautiful.

I found the little cage and pumpkin in the dollar section of Target. It’s the only thing I bought this year. Halloween decorations are one of those things I tend to already have around the house and don’t usually buy much of. But if you’re starting out at a new home and looking for some good ones, HomeGoods or Target is a good start for fun decorations.

I hope you’ve enjoyed some little peeks of Halloween on our porch, captured by the insanely talented, Ruth Eileen Photography. Regardless as to what happens this Halloween, I hope you stay safe and can enjoy this fall season.
