Welcome back for part 2 of this hints of fall home tour, this time joining some friends on a blog hop. You can see all their lovely fall homes below. Yesterday in our part 1 tour we focused in on the porch and family room. Today we’ll move into the kitchen. From some sweet DIYs to a lovely tablecloth, fall comes in softly in here.
The kitchen is my happy place. As it is for many of us. It’s where we feed our babies, laugh over a glass of wine, kiss a boo boo and, at least in ours, get our toes run over as kids zip through on their ride on toys.
It has been a great joy of mine watching the seasons change through these windows. Having so many lets in the perfect amount of light, even in a New England winter. As the sun changes its route in the sky, we’ve got afternoon rays coming through the sink nook, casting a pretty glow on our open shelves. I didn’t do much to this corner, adding a pumpkin (the only one we were able to grow in our garden before the attack of vine borers decimated the crop) to the cake stand and a new vintage french bread board.
THE SINK NOOK
Simple does it in the kitchen and the sink nook is no exception. I used my leftover natural dried oats and placed them in a pretty, tall glazed pitcher. This scalloped Caitlin Wilson tea towel is my current favorite.
Counters are uncluttered as too many trinkets make me feel overwhelmed. Sometimes the island becomes a mecca for kids homework and junk mail. These beautiful photos by Ruth Eileen Photography remind me to be intentional about putting those papers away.
I had every intention of putting the pampas grass wreaths in the windows in here. But I stumbled on this natural oat bundle, similar here, from Hobby Lobby and loved it so that I made a new set and used a soft blue/green velvet ribbon.
Wreaths are easy to pull off and so so beautiful, especially during the fall season when you can rely on dried touches. If you’re not a DIYer, try this one or this one I found on Etsy. Go ahead and order that bad boy and you’ve got yourself a wreath.
I love love this tablecloth for fall. It’s clearly made for a bigger, rectangle table but don’t let that dissuade you. It looks beautiful draped over our tulip table.
The delicate stripe napkins are a lovely addition to the neutral floral tablecloth. I draped them over the plate and rested the silverware bundle on them, complete with some dried pods and lovely ribbon.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this sweet hints of fall home tour part 2 and are feeling encouraged to bring some fall touches into your home, even if it’s just a bundle of leaves or acorns you gather on a walk. Questions about paint colors or kitchen details, see this Kitchen Reveal Blog Post.
