Our wild tree! How I love this time of year when our window comes alive with twinkling lights day and night. I’ve staked claim over this tree. This is momma’s tree but the kiddos helped put some ornaments on that I *may* have redistributed when they weren’t looking. They each have a tiny tree in their bedrooms and a fun one, with homemade ornaments, in the playroom. But momma’s tree is filled with vintage ornaments I’ve collected through the years, pretty velvet ribbons and is sitting in a bucket I found at Brimfield. A wild, collected tree in all her loveliness.

She is silly and cute but isn’t watching our kids for bad behavior to report back to Santa because your worth (and presents) are not dictated by your behavior. One last not Christmas post before we dive right in to holiday mode. 6 hrs on my feet today decorating this lovely home and I’m officially exhausted. Happy almost Thanksgiving here. There IS so very much to be thankful for but I’ve really hated this year. It’s been a hard one. One I’d frankly choose to not repeat if it were up to me. But there’s something lovely about that hard too. Because the hard can change us. It helps us go further into life. And I was thinking about it recently while painting my toes, random I know but hear me out. I have tiny callouses on the sides of my feet from running. Life drove me to running this year, God met me on those miles and it’s those hard spots on my feet that let me run further. Clearly my feet would be outwardly prettier if I got rid of them but take them away and you can’t go as far. The hard things we go through help us walk further and the further you walk the more chance you have of seeing the lovely there. So friend if you’re in that spot where seeing everyone’s thankful posts makes you want to want to crawl under the covers, please just walk a little further. Hard sucks. No one wants it. That first mile I ran in January was miserable. But it develops something in you that’s priceless and truly lovely not just outwardly lovely but soul lovely. And you my friend are worthy. Thank you @rutheileenphoto for capturing these pictures after this hard year, they’re a visible reminder to me of the lovely in the chaos of life.
