This pretty summer cosmo wreath is the perfect adornment for a summertime door. Its simple and elegant design lends itself well to the delicateness of a cosmo flower which fills our gardens with summertime blooms. It’s an easy one to make and captured beautifully by Ruth Eileen Photography.
I used a 12″ gold hoop that was covered in pampas grass from last fall’s wreath. That’s the great part of being able to recycle designs and reuse as much as possible. I picked up 5 bunches of faux white cosmos from Hobby Lobby. You can also find white cosmos at Target with the Hearth and Hand line.

Wire Cutters
With your wire cutters, snip off the long flower stem so you have about 5-7 inches of just the branching cosmos flowers. Bend them slightly with your fingers to mimic the curve of the metal wreath and to make the flowers and buds more realistic-looking. Put a long line of hot glue and affix your pre-bended branch of cosmo flowers to the wreath frame. Once the glue is dry you can gently bend the flowers and buds into the right position. With too much pressure you will snap the hot glue right off the metal.
Continue gluing branches on going in one direction around the wreath. When I first made this, I completely covered the metal hoop with my cosmo flowers. I hung it outside and then we had that Memorial Day cold snap with wind and I came outside and found one of the branches lying on the ground. And I honestly liked it better so I never glued it back on. That asymmetrical, whimsical design just kinda found me and I love it.
Sneaky tip: if you have a glass door like me, put beads of hot glue periodically spaced on the back side of the wreath so when the wind blows it doesn’t bang against the glass.
I found some lovely blue stripe ribbons for you if you scroll below. They’re just lovely on wreaths this time of year and there’s many choices. I bought my ribbon at Hobby Lobby. I hope you’ve enjoyed our summer cosmo wreath. I’m making a second one for the front door. Make sure you peruse my sweet friend’s summertime wreaths on this blog hop.
