The inspiration for this summertime wreath was really our walks to the train station with my two little dudes. We walk down this back road through the forest and there are ferns and queen anne’s lace spilling over the sides of the road. It’s magical really. Especially to a girl who grew up in Southern California’s high desert and had only ever seen these colors of green in pictures or trips to forests.
The green mossiness of the forest this time of year is quite magical. I knew I wanted to funnel that into my summertime wreath. I headed to Michaels were I found all the ingredients for my summertime front door wreath.
I bought an 18″ grapevine wreath, two bags of moss, some faux maiden hair ferns and Queen Anne’s lace. I started by hot glueing the moss to the wreath. Once I covered the majority of it, I added the fern and Queen Anne’s lace in. Placement of the ferns and Queen Anne’s lace are really about personal preference. I spaced mine pretty evenly rather than off-setting them like past wreaths, simply for a different look.
This was really a fun and easy project that didn’t take much time. Less than an hour total to do it. It adds a foresty look to the front door, perfect for summertime in New England and captured beautifully by my dear friend Ruthie of Ruth Eileen Photography. Happy wreathing!
Love the wreath!
