The ILVE Majestic 48″ Range–Love at first sight

We’re officially finished with our kitchen remodel in our old home. If you’ve been following along here on the blog or Instagram you know this has been quite the undertaking, now 8 months in. Originally built in 1879, our victorian farmhouse outside Boston has had a story to tell for awhile. We bought this home in 2015 understanding we had a journey ahead of us to make it home and that she needed some love. Of all the projects we’ve done so far, this last one has been the most fun, also the most substantial with the whole backside of the house taken off, which you can see here. By building it back up, it gave us a lead-free, safe footprint to work with and the potential to redesign it to my dreams, ie have a say in where the windows went, etc.  The kitchen did not get much bigger than the initial footprint, maybe a foot wider and a foot longer but with a staircase removed and the addition of a mudroom/powder room off the kitchen rather than in it, we gained a much bigger overall space to work with for the new kitchen.

We’ve got a growing family, two little boys and a babe on the way and as a stay-at-home momma and blogger, the kitchen will always be the heart of my home. So when designing it initially, I knew it needed to be multifaceted: it needed to be lovely, it needed to be practical, and it needed to fit the era of the home and honor the years this house has graced this neighborhood. The kitchen was intentionally designed with the range and range hood as the focal point. I hand drew the range hood and Cutting Edge Homes did a spectacular job with the architectural planning and building. I was adamant about symmetrical windows flanking the range, because they focus your eyes on the centerpiece of the kitchen–the beautiful ILVE Majestic range.

Now I knew, long before any other appliance which range I would go with, you can see my hunt for the perfect range here. Being in design, I’m equally drawn to a professional grade luxury appliance as I am to the appearance of the unit and no one can deny just how beautiful the ILVE Majestic series is. I loved the idea of a unique color and was smitten the minute I was handed a paint book with 200 RAL custom paint colors. The winner after long deliberation was the RAL color 7031 Blue Grey. I wanted a subtle blue that leaned grey as the cabinetry was going to be grey but I didn’t want it to be a bold blue. In all sincerity, I was nervous up until the day we removed it from the crate because this was such a large purchase and feature of the design. It wasn’t until we removed the packaging that we realized just how beautiful the color truly was. It’s magnificent, soft, lovely and definitely more muted in person then even these pictures show. We chose oil-rubbed bronze hardware, knobs and standard plinth legs for the vintage look that works so nicely with our historic home.

Made in Italy, these ranges are not just beautiful but a professional unit that cooks like a dream. Ours is the 48” ILVE Majestic Dual Fuel, natural gas range with 7 semi-sealed burners including a removable griddle–hello there pancake Saturday mornings! Not only is it an amazing range, it is also a double oven, with one multi-function European convection oven and a smaller standard electric oven which meant I didn’t need to take up valuable cabinet space with wall ovens. We didn’t even realize until we started using the ILVE Majestic’s ovens just how many settings there were to perfectly bake every item. Eight to be precise. You can choose which heating sources are turned on–upper or lower or both, whether or not you want the convection feature on and the operating manual walks you through which function is best for which item you are wanting to bake. It comes with two rotisseries and a full-width warming drawer as standard features and the 48″ range is large enough to have multiple dishes cooking at once without the cooktop feeling crowded. It’s a dream, not only beautiful to look at but the perfect way to cook your food.

Now that I have been cooking with the ILVE Majestic 48″ range for over a month, I can safely say I would pick it over and over again. It’s lovely, it’s practical and the perfect way to bring our little family together in our new kitchen. Stay tuned for the full kitchen tour and all sources coming soon. Absolutely love your home! Warm and charming, perfect to raise a family in! We love watching the videos! Can you please remind me of the type of countertops you used in the kitchen? Thank you so much!!

    • Finding Lovely says:

Hi Jenny! The countertops are by Neolith. It’s amazing stuff. 100% natural stone and imbedded with a marble pattern which makes it practically indestructible. We’re so happy with it. The look of marble with zero upkeep!

  8. Megan Casey says:

Could you please tell me the cabinet paint color?

    • Finding Lovely says:

Hi Megan! The walls are Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace and the cabinetry is Sherman Williams Repose Grey

  9. Rhonda says:

What color are the cabinets? I love them!

  10. […] Sherwin Williams Repose Gray is better known as a “greige” it’s not a true gray as it has some brown undertones give it a more greige appearance. It looks great in spaces with lots of natural light and in spaces that have minimal or no natural light. Repose Gray is a great go to color because it’s easy. It looks great in many different spaces and lighting situations. See Repose Gray in the kitchen here. […]

Absolutely gorgeous! Just found your page! Love your style and story! Was wondering what backsplash did you use in the kitchen?? Thank you! Good
    Luck with everything!

    • Finding Lovely says:

Hi Marissa, thank you! The backsplash is a handmade looking white subway tile in two sizes, 3×6″ and 3×12″ that I had my tile guy lay in a completely random pattern and then use white grout.

  12. Kayla says:

Hi there! Beautiful kitchen! I wondered if you could share where the window shades are from? I love how they give a natural texture to the space.

    Thank you,
    Kayla

    • Finding Lovely says:

Hi Kayla, they are from The Shade Store, woven wood blinds in the color Montauk-3 with privacy lining. They’re perfect! Easy to install, come quickly when you order them and add such warmth to the kitchen.

  13. Sara says:

I just came across your page and am loving your kitchen. Do you have additional photos of your kitchen and other appliances used (fridge, dishwasher) and/or a source list you could share! So, so lovely!!!

    • Finding Lovely says:

Hi Sara! I’m working on getting a series of kitchen posts up with all the details from the renovation. So check back soon! It’s the getting the kitchen photographed part that’s been challenging with two little boys and life in general. haha! Soon!

  14. Betty says:

Beautiful!! I will be doing my kitchen dining room and living room in gray(open area). I hope it looks this nice.

  15. Tricia Hartung says:

Your kitchen is wonderful! Truly lovely. I found you while researching the Majestic range and other ideas for my own antique (1904) home’s kitchen remodel. I haven’t been able to find the dimensions of each oven so as to figure out what pans will fit in each. I’m concerned because the range that came in my house is a 40″ Fridgidaire with a secondary oven so tiny, that all I can bake in it is a loaf of bread or 8″ pan of brownies–not as practical as I need when cooking for my 20+ member family on the weekends or holidays! Can you please direct me to a resource or tell me your experiences with what pans will fit each of your Majestic’s ovens? It is soooo beautiful and fits perfectly into the vision I have for this space, but I can’t afford to make such a costly mistake if it isn’t a practical appliance.
Thank you so very much for sharing your home and time with me!

    • Finding Lovely says:

Hi Tricia, I totally understand. We have the 48″ Majestic and the big oven fits everything fine. I baked a big turkey in it over the holidays. But the small side oven fits a baking pan, sheet or dish that is at most 9.5″ wide. Not a lot of my baking pans fit which was a bummer but when I realized it came with it’s own baking sheet, I now use it almost exclusively to make cookies, bake fish, scones, etc. It fits loaf pans nicely, I can get about 8 cookies on the baking sheet it came with, and it fits some of those smaller, more narrow casserole dishes so I used it over the holidays to do a lot of heating food up while the other side cooked the turkey. I have a ceramic 6 cup muffin pan that I use to make muffins unlike the 12 cup one I used exclusively before. It just heats up so much quicker that I tend to gravitate to it. I’ve been really pleased with mine and don’t regret it at all.

  16. Becky says:

Beautiful! What quartz did you go with for your countertops? It’s exactly what I’m looking for.

    • Finding Lovely says:

Hi Becky, it’s actually a stone surface called Neolith. It looks like marble with zero of the upkeep and we’ve had it for a year now and love it. Highly recommended!

Yes!!! We did a cobalt blue Ilve 48 inch!! Love love my range. And when we sold our house she was the show stopper!!! I say it’s a piece of jewelry in the kitchen!! And yes new house is getting a Ilve. I’m doing the blue grey this time. Curious are your cabinets white? Deciding on tone. Also, thinking of doing island in a white oak.
    Gorgeous kitchen!!!

  22. Carmen says:

    Hi Jackie,
We’re considering to get the Ilve Nostaglie in blue-grey. Is your blue-grey color the same as Ilve’s blue-grey stock color or did you create your own with the RAL system?

    • Finding Lovely says:

Hi there Carmen, I specifically ordered the RAL Blue Grey 7031 back a couple years ago. I’m not sure if it is the same color but it seems like it should be. Its very similar looking.

  23. mary says:

    Hi Jackie,

You have had your Ilve Majestic for a number of years now. How is the functionality and quality of the range holding up? I am considering the Ilve but I cook A LOT and I am worried about the range lasting. I know the Wolf will last me years to come.

    Thanks for your help!

    Mary Patel

    • Finding Lovely says:

Hi Mary, We haven’t had any issues and still love our range. I will say though the amount of time it takes for one of the burners to light is annoying. Not annoying enough for me to actually have it serviced but something I notice when I use other people’s ranges. I wish it was as responsive as a Wolf.

  24. Samantha says:

Hi! You said that your oven is the ILVE majestic series, but the trim and look is actually the nostalgie series. Were you able to get the majestic series with custom nostalgie trim? Thank you!
